Hyperspectral Geological Applications Engineer
HySpex is looking for a hyperspectral specialist with a geology or mining background to join the HySpex applications development team. The position is focused on providing support to customers requiring customized hyperspectral imaging solutions across different scientific and industrial areas. While this includes recycling, food processing, pharmaceutics, agriculture and others, a focus for this position is put on applications for and within the mining industry.
Main tasks:
- You are going to interact directly with our customers in the Mining and Geological Exploration sectors to determine the best way in which our instruments can improve their research or industrial process
- You will be in contact with customers, learn about and evaluate customer needs, and determine whether our technology is suitable and beneficial to their activities
- You will design experiments together with our clients and run feasibility studies in the laboratory and/or in the field
- Setting up, running and prototyping on customer sites to demonstrate the capabilities of our cameras will be part of your job with us, which requires travelling all over the world
- We need you to find solutions for our customers. This includes creating processing workflows to generate image analysis models and data products according to customer requirements
- We want you to stay curious and creative and provide feedback to HySpex R&D for developing new instruments and systems based on new applications
Qualifications:
- You have an education at master's degree level or higher in Geology, Geological Engineering, Economic Geology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Process Engineering or a similar branch from Geological Sciences and/or relevant experience in those fields
- You also have hands-on experience with different spectroscopic measurement techniques for geological samples from the laboratory and/or in the field
- Having experience with hyperspectral image processing techniques and software is a pre-requisite as we want you to apply your knowledge to all kinds of datasets
